Greeko Gives Back
Every Greek holiday should leave something good behind.
We don't just send people to Greece. We help Greece benefit from the people we send.
Our commitment
A commercial business with a social purpose
Greeko is not a charity. It's a commercial travel and destination organisation - and we think that is actually more powerful. Because when tourism money flows in the right direction, it creates lasting change at a scale that donations alone never can.
That's why we are building Greeko Gives Back: a commitment to reinvest a proportion of our commercial success directly into the communities, environments and cultures that make Greece worth visiting at all.
7.5% of Greeko's annual net booking revenue goes towards responsible tourism projects throughout Greece. Not greenwashing. Not a token gesture. A future-proof structural commitment that scales as Greeko grows.

Every booking contributes. Every year, we publish exactly where it goes.
Four pillars
Where the money goes
Every year, Greeko selects projects across four areas — chosen because they address the real pressures that mass tourism places on Greece.
Greece's marine environment
Greece has over 16,000 kilometres of coastline and some of the most biodiverse marine ecosystems in the Mediterranean. We support organisations working on sea turtle protection, beach clean-ups, plastic reduction, marine biodiversity and responsible boating — including organisations like Enaleia by driving impactful cleanup projects, and ARCHELON, the Sea Turtle Protection Society of Greece, which works directly with tourism businesses to protect nesting areas on the islands we promote.
Every booking made through Greeko helps protect the loggerhead sea turtles nesting on Zakynthos — one of the most important nesting sites in the Mediterranean.
Island communities and local businesses
Tourism should benefit the people who live there. We support community projects that restore traditional footpaths, maintain hiking trails, protect olive groves, preserve local crafts and fund environmental education. We partner with local schools, help young Greeks develop careers in tourism and hospitality, and give traditional artisans — ceramicists, weavers, food producers — exposure to the travellers who will value what they make.
Tourism money that stays in the destination, not the supply chain.
Culture, heritage and tradition
When visitor numbers dwarf the local population, the authentic character of a place can be gradually replaced by a performance of itself. We support cultural festivals, historic building restoration, traditional agriculture and the preservation of practices that have defined Greek island life for centuries. Because the Greece worth visiting is the real one.
Supporting the cultural festivals and traditions that make each island distinct.
Lesser-known destinations and shoulder season
The most powerful thing Greeko can do for Greece is redirect tourism away from saturated hotspots and towards the 200-plus inhabited islands that rarely see a foreign visitor. We actively promote lesser-known destinations, advocate for shoulder-season travel, and measure how many of our travellers go somewhere new — because dispersal is sustainability in action.
For every Santorini, there is a Sifnos. For every Mykonos, there is a Folegandros.
The Greeko Impact Fund
Small contributions. Multiplied into something meaningful.
Greeko selects three to five projects — ideally in the lesser-known islands and destinations we are actively promoting. But here is where it gets interesting: Greeko does not fund these projects alone.
Select the projects
We identify worthy projects in the destinations we promote — prioritising lesser-known islands and communities that need it most.
Bring partners together
Hotels, airlines, ferry operators, local businesses and municipalities are invited to contribute alongside Greeko — multiplying the impact of every pound we commit.
Fund and deliver
Projects are funded, delivered, documented and celebrated. We work with organisations already solving Greece's sustainability challenges — we partner and connect, we don't duplicate.
Publish the impact
We publish an annual Greeko Impact Report. Real numbers. Real projects. Real transparency. Real difference. No exaggeration.
The force multiplier
Imagine a hotel contributing €2,500 to a local project as part of their Greeko partnership. Greeko adds €1,000. The local municipality contributes support. A ferry company provides transport. A local business contributes labour.
A €1,000 Greeko contribution becomes a €10,000 destination project.
Collaboration is the key differentiator, that's far more powerful than writing a cheque.
Greeko + Andros
Travel here. Support here. Protect here.
The big idea
Adopt an Island
Rather than simply saying "Visit Andros", we want to eventually say: Greeko + Andros. Travel here. Support here. Protect here.

The bigger picture
Responsible travel is the foundation of great travel
Greece welcomes over 35 million visitors a year. Concentrated in a handful of hotspots, that success creates real consequences — water scarcity, housing displacement, cultural erosion — for the people who call these islands home.
At Greeko, we believe extraordinary travel and responsible travel are not in conflict. The most memorable Greek holidays are almost always the ones that go deeper, move slower, and reach further than the postcard or Instagram post.
April, May, September and October — same light, same sea, a fraction of the crowds.
A week on one island is worth more than three days each on three.
For every Santorini, there is a Sifnos. For every Mykonos, there is a Folegandros.
Every euro spent locally stays in the community — not the supply chain.
Islands leading the way
Paros has become one of the Mediterranean's most ambitious zero-waste projects — mobilising businesses, residents and visitors to eliminate single-use plastics entirely.
500+ businesses committed
In partnership with Volkswagen Group and the Greek government, Astypalaia is replacing every combustion vehicle with electric alternatives — a global reference for island electrification.
100% EV target by 2026
Tilos became the first island in the Mediterranean to achieve full energy independence through a hybrid wind and solar system — a replicable model for remote island communities worldwide.
